Who We Are
The Light Association Limited is an Australian not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee, registered as a public benevolent institution under Australian law. We are governed by a Constitution approved by our members on 3rd April 2025 and are fully registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
Guided by the Islamic values of mercy, compassion and justice, we believe every human being deserves dignity, safety and the essentials of life — regardless of where they were born. Our name reflects our mission: to bring light into the darkest corners of the world, one act of giving at a time.

The Light Association operates under a robust constitution ensuring complete transparency, sound financial management and the protection of our charitable purpose at all times
- Board of Directors (minimum 3, maximum 9) responsible for all strategic decisions
- Strict not-for-profit clause — no income or assets distributed to members
- Full ACNC compliance including annual reporting and financial accountability
- Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) framework — donations are tax deductible
- Mandatory conflict-of-interest disclosure and management procedures
- All surplus assets upon winding up transferred to another registered charity

The Light Community Centres
Safe spaces where young people find direction, purpose and a community that believes in them
the vision
Our long-term goal is to establish The Light Community Centres — welcoming, open-door spaces across Australia where young people who are lost, struggling, or experiencing homelessness can walk in and find genuine support.
Too many young Australians fall through the cracks, becoming disconnected from family, education, and opportunity. Our centres aim to bring them back into community — offering a place to belong, a place to grow, and a place to discover what comes next.
Whether someone needs a hot meal, someone to talk to, help with a CV, access to skills workshops, or simply a safe environment, our doors will be open to everyone, regardless of background, faith, or circumstance.

People experiencing homelessness — offered a safe, non-judgemental space and practical support
Anyone seeking a fresh start — regardless of background, faith or circumstance

Growing Our Reach — United Kingdom Expansion
The Light Association is currently in the process of expanding into the United Kingdom. We are working toward registration with the Charity Commission for England & Wales to become a fully recognised UK charity, enabling us to serve the global Muslim community and receive UK Gift Aid–eligible donations.
This expansion reflects our commitment to strengthening our relief work and extending The Light Association’s mission to one of the world’s most generous Muslim populations.
